Ozelar®

Ozelar^® – caffeine citrate, the “gold standard” treatment for primary apnea in preterm newborns.

The primary action of Ozelar in apnea of prematurity is the stimulation of the central nervous system (CNS) through several mechanisms:

• stimulation of respiratory centers;
• increase in minute ventilation;
• decrease in the threshold for carbon dioxide levels in the blood;
• enhanced responsiveness to carbon dioxide levels in the blood;
• increased skeletal muscle tone;
• reduced diaphragmatic fatigue;
• increased metabolic rate;
• increased oxygen consumption.

Indications:

Treatment of primary apnea in preterm newborns.

Dosage form:

Solution for infusion and oral administration. 1 ml in ampoules, 10 ampoules per pack; 5 ampoules in a blister pack, with 2 blister packs in a cardboard box.
